Zhu Pei will be giving a lecture and new book launch at AIA New York | Center for Architecture

Zhu Pei, Dean of the School of Architecture at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, a visiting professor at Yale University, Founder of Studio Zhu Pei, will be giving a lecture titled " Experimental: Recent Work by Studio Zhu Pei " to share his recent experimental architectural works at AIA New York | Center for Architecture on April 28th. At the same time, the new book Jingdezhen Imperial Kiln Museum, authored by Zhu Pei, will also be first launched here.

 

The event, hosted by AIA New York and moderated by Martino Stierli, Philip Johnson Chief Curator of Architecture and Design at MoMA, will be held on Friday, April 28th, 6:30pm - 8pm New York time.

 

 

 

 

In the lecture, Zhu Pei will present recent work, including the Imperial Kiln Museum, the Majiayao Ruins Museum and Observatory, the OCT Art Center, and the Zijing International Conference Camp. The featured projects will guide attendees through an overview of Zhu Pei’s design philosophy and material propositions, explaining how this philosophy is translated across different tectonic terrains with material integrity. The lecture will be followed by a conversation with Martino Stierli, MoMA's Philip Johnson Chief Curator of Architecture and Design, on the significance of the architectural and tectonic experiments presented. Copies of book Jingdezhen Imperial Kiln Museum will be available for sale at the event site.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Zhu Pei's new book Jingdezhen Imperial Kiln Museum is published by The Images Publishing Group and distributed worldwide. As a profound practice of the design philosophy of "Architecture of Nature", this book comprehensively combs the whole process of Jingdezhen Imperial Kiln Museum from design creation, construction, completion to opening, and gradually presents the all-around thinking of the project and the detailed characteristics of the project process through the essays of the design concept, rich sketches, technical drawings, and a large number of colored photos.
