Studio Zhu Pei's OCT Art Center was featured in the column of "Water: a Phenomenal Lens" in Domus February issue.
Zhu Pei led the readers back to the design thinking and construction method of the OCT Art Center: how to respond to the natural climate characteristics and traditional cultural roots of the region through contemporary architectural form creation, and to rebuild a poetic "artificial temple", a habitat for both mind and body. “OCT Art Center not only speaks to the lost civilization, but also the barren and primitive landscape through simple and affirmative geometric forms, to achieve a balanced juxtaposition between artificial and natural, present and past.”
The theme of Domus February issue is “Questions of perception”, in this editorial, the guest editor Steven Holl recounts the phenomenology of architecture and the different types of physical experience it entails.
